Wedding Tip of the Day by Relive Photography
Today’s wedding tip comes from Massachusetts wedding photographer, Relive Photography. Laura Parent shares the importance of taking part in an engagement photo session, which Relive Photography offers for free as part of their package! This tip is from an expert advice article on my Kate Parker Wedding. Check out the full expert advice article and enjoy Laura’s expert tip!
The Importance of an Engagement Session
“In my experience I have found that when my brides and grooms take advantage of my FREE engagement session they prosper in more than one way. If the couple is not used to having a camera around them (which most people are not), and they find that they are desperately afraid of having their picture taken this is a great tool to change that. Camera shy is a truly common issue for many – including myself. With that understanding I go out of my way to bring everyone to ease. As the session goes on for a bit the wall comes down and the nerves settle.”

I absolutely love love love every single thing VINTAGE. The idea of my seeking out Vintage Eco Friendly Vendors and suppliers for your wedding is to inspire my clients to make the absolute perfect choices for their big day. Designing a wedding has so many factors involved and as a Wedding Photographer here at Relive Photography I think that by inspiring my clients I will give them a tool to create fabulous images as an heirloom for years and years to come. From Vintage wedding decor and designers that are eco friendly to wedding floral designers that are eco friendly and of course this FAB FIND...
Adele Wecschler: The Bridal Designer You Need to Know
Adele Wecschler: The Bridal Designer You Need to Know
We’re all about planet friendly weddings: Recycled invitations, balsa wood flowers, (you know, the ones that last forever) and locally grown, organic foods… It all sounds fantastic. But eco-friendly dresses? Yikes! Hemp and burlap bags come to mind.
However, after last weeks amazing Project Runway, I dare say don’t discount hemp or burlap! In fact, you might be saying – I might just want a burlap dress! Yet, most brides have trouble equating eco-friendly dresses with eco-chic style especially in the absence of Tim Gunn’s watchful eyes.
Well, with our latest designer spotlight, you really can be both eco-conscious and super-stylish!
In fact, Adele Weschler put the fabulous in eco-fabulous. Her designer dresses are beyond stylish and seriously affordable. Designing for the “bride who cares about the world in which she lives” has led Adele to create some of the most beautiful collections of environmentally friendly wedding dresses we’ve ever seen. Period.
Need another reason to look into these exquisite gowns? How about the fact that you can get two dresses for one? With Weschler’s “Chrysalis” gowns, you have the option of a traditional long, formal dress for the ceremony that converts to a shorter, more laid back version of itself for the reception. Now how’s that for fabulous?

Relive PHotography by Laura Parent - Go Green Wedding Thoughts and Trends by Sheila Sheffield

Relive Photography by Laura Parent introducing Sheila Sheffield of Go Green Weddings. A great source for Green Earth Friendly Wedding Planning.
There's no question that green weddings are going to be more popular than ever with brides and grooms who are tying the knot this year. I know, you're probably thinking, "Of course you're saying that - you're in the business of selling favors and other items for environmentally friendly weddings," but there are plenty of experts backing me up!
OneWed.com recently released their predictions for the top ten wedding trends for 2010, and Earth-friendly "I Do's" was number 3 on their list.
This is confirmed by Stylish Wedding Ideas, who stated,
"The eco-chic trend is very now and is going nowhere: being ecologically conscious and applying that to your wedding couldn’t be more chic... a trend that is surely going to explode in 2010."
Jim Love, publisher of Premier Bride DFW, was quoted in the Dallas Morning News as saying,
"Going green is no longer a trend, but a normal influence in the way weddings are taking place."
Your Wedding Company summed it up nicely by declaring,
"Going green is important in almost every area of life including weddings. Many couples are choosing organic fabrics, flowers, food and invitations, etc. In the event of global climate change, making green and sustainable choices helps our environmental crisis tremendously. Decisions that lessen the amount of carbon emissions promote sustainable practices, support local businesses, foster community and worldwide health and longevity. Let's hope this trend is here to stay!"
There are plenty of ways you can introduce green practices into your wedding celebration, including giving your guests favors which they can plant, such as flower bulbs, tree seedlings, or flower seeds, or which they can eat, such as teas, honey, or jam, as well as using eco-friendly centerpieces, guest books and place cards. For more information about these and many other options, please browse our website or give us a call at 1-888-315-7333.

Gorgeous Asian Decor Designed by Kate Parker Weddings, Photographed by Relive Photography

Laura Parent of Relive Photography
I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at the Portsmouth Country Club. The wedding event planner was Kate Parker Weddings and as always her design was just gorgeous. This wedding was Asian inspired and was complete with name table settings written on asian fans. The fans also of course were used for the guests to keep cool during the wedding ceremony in the hot summer air.
The Portsmouth Country Club served as a perfect wedding venue to have such a classic wedding. I would highly recommend booking a wedding event at the country club to have a perfect day. The staff was so sweet and service was terrific and more than helpful. I had a really wonderful experience working with them for this summer wedding event.
Kate Parker had outdone herself with the asian floral accents as well as the bamboo floral favors that were offered to the guests. By the way the bamboo plant signifies the following:
This plant has been associated with the Eastern practice of Feng Shui for a long time now. The lucky bamboo is believed to be an ideal example of the thriving water and wood element. Sometimes a red ribbon is also added as it is believed to fire the positive flow of energy or chi into the room.
The lucky bamboo plant is considered luckiest when it is received as a gift! So think of offering these gifts to your wedding guests!

Laura Parent of Relive Photography
I wanted to share this terrific event with everyone. I love the idea that 14 Stories is offering such a great workshop in Boston area. Please spread the word to all of your family and friends that are getting married or thinking about it.
Weddings Redefined We are thrilled that you are interested in attending 14 Stories's Weddings Redefined, a wedding planning workshop for engaged same-sex couples! Originally conceptualized and co-facilitated with the great folks GayWeddings.com, we led this workshop in Boston, Chicago and DC and it's been a big hit!
This revamped workshop emphasizes the nuts and bolts of wedding planning and reinforces the concept that your wedding is uniquely yours, with your vision, your personality and your own traditions. This highly interactive workshop and Q&A with the experts will leave you with the confidence and tools to plan your own wedding. We'll be touching fabric, looking at stationery and having fun thinking through wedding design. No sales pitches, just pure advice.
We receive great feedback at each class. At our last class, one couple told us, "It was very organized and great information was presented. We appreciated the comfortable, inviting atmosphere and loved meeting other couples that are dealing with their own wedding."
Cost is $50/couple and includes hors d'oeuvres, wine (courtesy of the Hard Rock Cafe) and a packet of materials. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
The next session is Tuesday, February 23 from 6-8pm at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston's Faneuil Hall.
Please complete the form below to sign up and pay the $50 nonrefundable registration fee. Any questions contact info {at} 14stories {dot} com.
Here's what you'll learn:
* how to decide who to invite
* the cost of weddings
* how to choose the right vendor for you
* how to choose the right venue
* gay wedding traditions
* a primer on wedding design (linens, flowers, etc)
* the pros and cons of weddings in a restaurant (such as the Hard Rock Cafe)
* and plenty of time for Q&A
You'll also get a tour of Hard Rock's event space which is a nontraditional wedding location for sure - but you're probably planning a nontraditional wedding.
We keep these gay wedding planning workshops chill and low-key but fun and we know you'll have a good time. To register please visit this page. Hope to see you there!
